Discussion Question 1:

Think about the stories about Boo Radley and the childhood games of Scout, Jem, and Dill. Then, we'd like you to write a paragraph__ (8-10 complete sentences) describing personal connections that you can make to your own childhood experiences. You might consider the following questions:

  • Were there any houses, neighbors, or legends that frightened you as a child?
  • Did you and your siblings/friends ever dare each other to do something? (like touching the Radley house)
  • How did you define "courage" and "cowardice" when you were a child? Were your ideas similar to those of Scout, Jem, and Dill?

Click the "Discussion" tab to post your response.

Hint: If you are having a hard time thinking of your own childhood experience, you might write about a movie or television show about children. For example, students have mentioned that the Radley house reminds them of the scary house from the movie The Sandlot.
